So-Kyokushin Spain and Academia de Karate - Semper Fidelis, achieve four medals in the Spanish National Championship.

So-Kyokushin Spain participated last weekend 23rd March, in the National Kyokushin Karate Championship, held in the Municipality of Santa Susana and organized by Dojo La Selva of IKOKU.

The team led by Sensei Gregory, made a great performance, in a competition in which 34 Clubs from all over Spain participated, in the different categories and disciplines divided in the modalities of kumite and katas, with a total of 450 high level competitors. The result of So-Kyokushin Spain's efforts was reflected in a total of four medals, three of them gold and one bronze.

The Championship started early in the morning in Katas, starting with the youngest competitors and ending with the Senior category. After a short break for lunch, the competition was resumed in the afternoon in Kumite, where the emotions of the participants and the public intensified again, filling the Sports

Centre with good vibrations, hopes, smiles and tears. A compendium of emotions that made us feel the GREAT SPIRIT of Kyokushin.

Everyone present caught and breathed this enriching atmosphere, and it was a special day for everyone, whether they made it to the podium or not.

We can say that the performance of So-Kyokushin Spain was a success in this Spanish National Championship.

The achievements obtained by the Competitors led by Sensei Gregory, were the result of the great dedication and effort of the competitors, as well as months of hard work and perseverance, with an illusion and hopes of the technical team and the Competitors of So-Kyokushin Spain.

These are our official results:

KUMITE:

1 Place / gold - Ismael G.

1 Place / gold - Adrián L.

KATA:

1 Place / gold - Isabel H.

3 Place / bronze - Adrián L.

We are very satisfied with the progress of all the competitors of So-Kyokushin Spain, of which more than one came very close to the podium, in the quarter finals, despite the fact that most of the categories were very numerous and the road to excellence was long and difficult, says Sensei Gregory.

We congratulate all the competitors of So-Kokushinkai Spain for their achievements and dedication, their effort and perseverance, both in KUMITE and KATAS!

We send a strong OSU from Spain to Japan, and to all So-Kyokushin member countries around the world!

Poland Summer Seminar another huge success

On June 9-11, 2023, International Summer Seminar IKO World So-Kyokushin was held in Szczecin, Poland. At the invitation of shihan Radek Ambroziak (Radosław Husaria) and the HUSARIA Dojo (Szczeciński Klub Sportowy Husaria), Uchi Deshi of Hanshi Daigo Ohishi: Sensei Naoto Kusakabe and sensei Naoya Kusakabe came from Japan to share their knowledge of kyokushin karate, which they gained during years of training under the guidance of the Hanshi. The seminar was attended by almost 160 karatekas from all over the country and invited guests from Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Hungary, England, Wales and Spain. During the entire seminar, our guests conducted many keikos, during which they presented the rules of warm-up, showed how kihon geiko looks like in a truly Japanese style, and then focused on the kata keiko. The seminar participants had the opportunity to admire the artistry of the Kusakabe brothers in performing kata, from basic forms up to Kanku and Sushiho. On the second day of the seminar, question and answer session took place. During the discussion panel, the Kusakabe brothers answered many questions about their karate path, being the uchi-deshi of Hanshi Daigo Ōishi, and Japanese history and tradition. Sensei Naoto and Naoya Kusakabe also conducted an exam on the third day of the seminar, which was held according to the rules of conducting exams at Dojo Hanshi Daigo Ōishi. In addition to kihon, kata, kumite and the Tameshiwari test, the test takers also had to pass a part that tested their endurance - by performing 5 series consisting of 50 push-ups, 50 sit-ups and 50 sit-ups. Congratulations to all those who successfully passed this difficult test! All keiko were conducted in a very friendly, family atmosphere, which was passed on to all participants, organizers and institutions supporting the event. We would like to thank the Organizer -  HUSARIA Dojo, Centrum Szkoleniowe Vulcan Training & Consultancy, Hotel Vulcan and the "Okiem Sportowca" team for supporting this unique event. We already invite you to the next summer seminar in Szczecin next year on June 7-9, 2024. OSU!

Norway Camp with Guest Instructors

Long weekends 15. –18. In June, Tromsø karate club organized a summer camp.

Shihan Tachibana and sensei Sugimoto from Japan visited the club for the first time. The training sessions were very educational and inspiring, and the pace was high and demanding. For those who have trained kyokushin karate for a while, this was a familiar scheme. A lot of technical learning, while at the same time demanding endurance and strength. Very tough, honest and inspiring. It pays to be in good shape when participating in such things.

During the summer camp, we visited most things: kihon, idogeiko, kata, kumite (both with and without "tournament rules"). And as Shihan Tachibana said: "It's all the same", where he meant that all training methods are about the same thing. Good, strong and robust karate performance.

Shihan Tachibana and sensei Sugimoto didn't just stand on the sidelines, but participated in 70 minutes of kumite rolling and went toe-to-toe with everyone. They inspired to participate and be generous About 50 athletes participated
